The „FUT technique“
This method is still recognised worldwide and has its advantages. During the hair transplant, a strip of skin with hair roots is extracted from the head of the patient. The wound is then closed and, after healing, should only be barely be visible as a linear scar, as long as the hair is of a certain length. Unfortunately, this is not always the case and it can cause wide, unsightly and noticeable scarring that can only be hidden with long hair. The skin strip is divided microscopically into the smallest grafts and inserted as a single or two-hair transplant into the bald or thin areas by means of a fine instrument. The complete treatment is carried out in a comfortable sitting and lying position under local anaesthesia. Depending on the quantity of “grafts” that need transplanting, the treatment can last 3 – 5 hours. Face swelling may appear shortly after, and mostly decreases painlessly and without need of medication after a few days. The inserted hair roots start to grow after about 8 – 12 weeks. For life.
FUE technique (Follicle Unit Extraction)
In this recent and modern method, the grafts are extracted as so-called follicular units from the back of the head and the lateral area. A tiny hollow instrument only 0.7 big extracts the smallest skin particles (grafts) with different amounts of hair roots from the above mentioned donor site.
Then, microslits are placed in the recipient area to absorb the so-called grafts. The advantage: No visible scars, the shortest healing process, maximum thickness. In the FUE treatment area, we have an international transplantation team which exclusively carries out hair transplants. We are able to insert up to 5,000 grafts for a patient in a period of about 8 hours. For a sensational quality-price ratio.
We have more than 25 years’ experience with over 15,000 operations carried out with this technique. Although we favour the FUE technique due to our top results, there are frequently indications where a FUT technique is appropriate. This is for example the case for patients (especially women) where the donor area cannot be shaved to a specific extraction volume.
You can discuss what treatment is the right for you in a personal, individual consultation with our specialist consultants.
Surgical procedure for a FUE treatment.
The fundamental advantage of the Follicular Unit Extraction, or FUE for short, is the particular type of hair extraction managed without cuts, since it is not carried out with a scalpel.
